Mykonos has 2 ferry ports: “Old port” and “New port”. The old port is mostly used by smaller ferries and the new port for bigger ones. Make sure to confirm the departure port of your ferry, because it may change due to ferry traffic or weather conditions.
When traveling to Athens, you will either arrive at Piraeus or Rafina port.
The ferry route between Mykonos and Athens operates daily throughout the year. During winter, there will be less ferries operating as Mykonos traffic drops substantially in the low season.
On Mykonos- Athens connection only conventional ferries operate during winter and starting from May to late October high-speed SeaJets catamarans start operating on this route.
During the high season the ferry tickets sell out quickly, so make sure to book your tickets in advance.

From Mykonos to Athens by FLIGHT
There are direct flights available between Mykonos and Athens. Each route takes about 35-45 minutes, depending on the airline company. Volotea Airlines, Olympic Air, Sky Express and Aegean Airlines have flights in both directions. The flight durations don’t vary too much, so your choice will mostly depend on ticket prices.
The best airline out of the five (Volotea, Olympic, Aegean, Ellinair and Sky), is Aegean Airlines. Actually, Aegean and Olympic is now the same company, as Aegean Airlines has bought Olympic Airways, which used to belong to the Greek state but went bankrupt. Aegean Airlines is a private company and has been awarded many times as the best satellite airline in Europe. It is almost always punctual, its crew speaks perfect English and is very professional.
